The Safe Ride Foundation Scholarship Program provides a small scholarship to two local college/high school students each Fall.  This year is no different, as we have now announced our two newest recipients!

We believe in giving back, and one way we do that is by setting the example for our youth to do so as well. The Safe Ride Foundation helps to nurture our youth in the best way we know how, with our internship and scholarship programs.  The selected recipients created promotion projects for the purpose of spreading the message of drunk driving prevention, and the utilization of programs such as SOS Safe Ride.

This Fall our selected recipient for the collegiate scholarship was Meriam Helal, a Government Politics major attending The University of Maryland, moving into her third year of study. Meriam is an Egyptian-American young woman, hailing all the way from Cairo ????????!
She recently received her American citizenship, and is looking to enter into the political field after college. She is a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and an avid sprinter.

The recipient of our High School scholarship was Max Waters, a Senior at Linganore High School.

Max plans to attend The University of Maryland, where he will pursue a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a hopefully concentration in Cognitive Science. The Safe Ride Foundation recognized his academic achievements by awarding him the Senior Safety Scholarship this year.  Max is a double athlete at Linganore, and is very excited for his new adventures at the collegiate level.

Stay tuned next spring to find out about application information, and to see who our newest recipients will be. The Safe Ride Foundation is very keen on supporting our local youth in their present and future endeavors, and we’re thrilled have the opportunity to do so!
